Ann. Méd. Vét., 2003, 147 (4), pp 275 - 280 Genotypic characterization of invasive avian strains of Escherichia coli isolated in BelgiumStordeur P., Beaupain N., Mainil J.Abstract :
A collection of 338 strains, isolated from 182 broilers, 107 layers, 13 turkeys, 4 pheasants, and 77 birds of unknown history that had died with colibacillosis in 2002-2003, were hybridized with specific gene probes; 306 (79.8%) were positive for the probe IutA, 70 (18.3%) for P, 27 (7%) for F17A, 26 for AfaE-8, 23 for AfaD-8, 16 for 5 and 4 for Eae. Of the 27 F17A-positive strains, 20 were positive for the f17Ac gene. Pulsed field genetic profile analysis for the F17A adhesin demonstrated the heterogeneity of the isolates.
