Ann. Méd. Vét., 2010, 154 (2), pp 70-82 The expression microarray: a
potentially useful tool for the
understanding of the immune response to a stress caused by exercise in horsesSCHOENECKER J., ART T., PIROTTIN D., LEKEUX P., RAMERY E.Abstract :
Despite of numerous studies, the
relationship between exercise, stress, and immune response is poorly defined.
Exercise is commonly reported as a stress that leads to changes in the homeostatic balance and can significantly alter the host’s immune response and thus its susceptibility to disease.
Adrenaline is the key molecule of any physiological process of stress.
Microarray technology, widely used in transcriptomic studies, allows the quantification of gene expression at the whole genome level. It could help to better define and characterise the interrelation between exercise, stress and immune response.
The aim of this review is to summarise
known interrelations between the immune response to, respectively, adrenaline and exercise and to evaluate the
potential of microarray technology
for a better understanding of the immune response to stress caused by exercise. Get the PDF Contact person : Eve.Ramery@ulg.ac.be |
