Ann. Méd. Vét., 2008, 152 (1), pp 34-46 Fat-supplemented diets for horses : characteristics, palatability and
digestibilityDELOBEL A., CUVELIER C.Abstract :
Papers dealing with metabolic effects of fat supplementation in diets for horse are numerous. The first part of this review concerns the context of use of high-fat diets in horses and their characteristics.
Then, their effects on palatability and digestibility of the ration are summarized. Although a lack of standardization of their composition, it appears that the palatability of high-fat diet is good and that horses digest fat effectively. They could thus
constitute an alternative to the use of high-starch diets, of which the negative effects are well-known today. Get the PDF Contact person : agathe.delobel@rocinante.be |
