Ann. Méd. Vét., 2008, 152 (1), pp 01-16 Morphopathologic review of myopathies among equidaeCASSART D., COIGNOUL F., DESMECHT D.Abstract :
In this morphopathologic review of equine myopathies, the priority is given to the histopathologist way of using key morphologic clues for accurate categorization of a myopathy. In this paper, the word myopathy is used in its larger etymological acceptation, meaning any disease of skeletal muscles.
According to the histological lesions, four groups of myopathies can be characterized:(i) myopathies with changes of muscular fibres size, (ii)
myopathies with alteration of muscular fibres appearance,(iii) myopathies with cellular infiltration of the interstitium and(iv) myopathies without typical morphological alteration.
For each entity described, additional information is given as anamnestic data, clinical signs, mechanism and aetiology -if known-and macroscopic
lesions. Get the PDF Contact person : Dominique.Cassart@ulg.ac.be |
