Ann. Méd. Vét., 2007, 151 (3), pp 192-199 Adherence mechanisms of fungi responsible for superficial mycosesBALDO A., MATHY A., VERMOUT S., TA BART J., LOSON B., MIGNON B.Abstract :
The fungi responsible for superficial
mycoses are principally opportunistic pathogenic fungi of the genus Candida and
Malassezia and obligatory parasitic fungi, the dermatophytes.
Adherence of fungi to host tissues is a complex phenomenon in which adhesins and proteases are involved. Hydrophobic interactions also promote adherence to epithelial cells but this contribution
seems to play a minor role. The studies on adherence of fungi responsible for superficial mycoses could lead to the
implementation of new therapeuthic or prophylactic tools against these infections. Get the PDF Contact person : bmignon@ulg.ac.be |
