Ann. Méd. Vét., 2007, 151 (1), pp 15-23 Heart diseases in cattle : a review of available diagnostic tools and their importance.S.M.C. BUCZINSKIAbstract :
This review emphasises on the
ancillary tests that are available for the diagnosis of bovine heart diseases. Some of these tests such as echocardiography are easy to perform under
field condition. Other procedures such as pericardiocentesis, cardiac markers assessment and thoracic radiographs may help the clinician to diagnose heart
disease. However, some tests and heart disorders require an experienced operator and can only be performed in a referral
practice. Correct diagnosis of the etiology of heart disease can easily be found with minimal investigations (blood myocardial enzymes, pericardiocentesis,
echocardiography…). Even if some of these tests have a prognostic importance in other species, there is a lack of well
defined prognostic data concerning these diagnostic tools in cattle. Get the PDF Contact person : s.buczinski@umontreal.ca |
