IV. Dioxins and other contaminants. Methods based on mass spectrometryDE PAUW E., MAGHUIN-ROGISTER G.Abstract :
High resolution mass spectrometry was first applied, at the University of Liège, for determining anabolizing hormones.
This technique, coupled to gas
chromatography, was then used, after the “Belgian dioxine crisis” in 1999, to measure food contamination by dioxins and furans, soon followed by dioxin-like
PCBs.
A new approach, developed in the European research project BIOCOP would be the use of physicochemical methods for quantifying biological effects. By searching for effect biomarkers,
toxicogenomic and toxicoproteomic will reinforce traditional physicochemical methods. Get the PDF Contact person : g.maghuin@ulg.ac.be |
